Our commercial model:a collaborative path forward

A long-term, collaborative, commercial approach, ensuring a seamless journey toward a sustainable EV charging network.

Working together

Our commercial model is shaped by transparency, flexibility and adaptability, focusing on achieving objectives for the whole charging network and the changing needs of the communities we serve.

Long-term contracts and flexible deployment strategies are key to achieving sustainable growth in the charging network and maximising private sector investment.

At its core, our proposed model prioritises collaboration and long-term commitment to match the 20+ year transition to 100% EVs.

1

Fully funded network

We will fully fund the network roll-out, utilising grants where available, saving local authorities precious time and resources.
2

Commercial approach

Our commercial approach allows for flexible and continuous deployment of near-home chargepoints in line with EV adoption, and creates a steady stream of local employment for the installation and maintenance of the network. Our commercial strategy involves successive concession agreements, featuring a five-year Core Investment Period (CIP) and a 15-year operations phase. During the CIP, new chargepoints are installed, with CIP extensions enabling increased installations through additional private funding. A separate partnering agreement with the local authority sets the strategic direction for delivering infrastructure through the concession agreements. The key output is the Network Plan, which informs a series of five-year plans to achieve the steady-state charging network for a 100% EV fleet.
3

Flexible electricity procurement

Local authorities can usually procure electricity at a lower cost, giving greater control and certainty on:
  • the tariff charged to users
  • your revenue share
  • the variable electricity unit cost risk being passed to end users.
If preferred, we can support with the procurement of a suitable electricity supply.
4

A fixed index-linked CPO revenue stream

Our revenue is derived from a p/kWh margin on electricity that increases only with inflation over time. This simple and transparent approach facilitates tariff setting.

Beneficial outcomes for local authorities

Leveraging substantial private investment to sustainably grow the charging network to 100% EVs

Ensuring lower tariffs for end-users. Just like a mortgage - the shorter the term, the higher the repayments, so the shorter the contract, the higher the tariffs and vice versa

Installing the right chargepoints in the right place at the right time so we can make the network more sustainable and maximise private sector investment

Creating a steady stream of local employment as we grow and maintain the network

Bringing the communities we serve along with us, by ensuring we get the pace of chargepoint deployment just right
